And here’s who we’re looking for: someone with a positive attitude who’s an active learner; with dependable transportation and a relatively open schedule; preferably who has prior coffee service experience.
Could this be you? Here are further considerations:
You’ll need to be able to multi-task, receive constructive criticism as needed, have an on-going interest in coffee knowledge, show superior customer service to our guests, assist with food preparation in the kitchen, restock products as needed, and be both responsible and trustworthy.
If this sounds like you, we can’t wait to have a chat over coffee! Please download our application here, fill it out, and turn it in at the shop. Please note as of the second week of July our new address is: 1011 East Montague Ave.
Last fall we tried something new: hosting brunch in the backyard with different chefs around town. We’ve been thrilled with the response from the neighborhood and will continue the series indefinitely, so long as interest remains high. Maya Morrill and her fresh, innovative dishes (deviled huevos rancheros, anyone?) will stay a permanent fixture every first Sunday, and alternating chefs share the remaining. Jennifer and Jason Bremer from Fast and French pop in about once a month with Belgian waffles and chocolate croissants (among others!), and Flo and Jon Languell hit the backyard with T-Rex Tacos, empanadas, and homemade herb chimichurri that you’ll dream about. Keep up with the Facebook event postings and make plans to swing over for some good food. You’ll thank us when you do, we can promise that.
We are thrilled to announce we’re looking to expand our coffee team. Please visit our About page to find a job application link. Fill it out completely and return in store. We look forward to hearing from you!
Ok, we realize the weather is only slightly cooler than the ridiculously humid summer we’ve all endured, but from talking with all of you in the store it sounds like you’re ready for autumn’s reign, too. We’re already looking forward to the warmth of hot coffee in our hands as soon as the first chill hits (or really, every morning; let’s be honest). And we bet you’re ready for some reprieve as well. In the meantime, this month we’ve been blending up quite a few more smoothies because with new school year routines comes the all-too-well known fast-paced race each weekday morning. If you’re not familiar with our smoothie offerings, stop in the store or hop over to our menu page and check them out. You might just find a happier way to begin the day.
Here at the Orange Spot we try our best to continue striving to produce the best coffee and concoctions we can think up. You, the customer, inspire us. Most recently we’re excited to offer more house-made syrup options that are as sweet and innocent as we can make them. Although we do love a nice and simple doppio shot from the bar, sometimes a latte is what really hits the spot. For those times, you might consider a Vanilla Bean (we’re crazy about it over ice) or a Salted Caramel latte. We’re also thinking the Toasted Pecan might usurp the Hazelnut’s reign soon, too. Sometimes a new concept catches our fancy, or perhaps we discover a bundle of fresh herbs we run over to our kitchen. Right now for a limited time we’re pleased to offer a Fresh Lavender latte made only with the fresh herb and organic cane sugar. And of course, this time of year also means enjoying our infused hand-squeezed lemonades. Stop by our shop and celebrate with us this season in what we’ve deemed as the “Summer of Love”.
The Park Circle Pop Up plans to strike again on May 2nd at right here at the Orange Spot! “Rock The Circle” will be a Park Circle Pop Up Shop to benefit Girls Rock Charleston. Out in our courtyard will be 15 select vendors on Saturday May 2nd from 12 – 4pm. The event is working closely with Girls Rock Charleston and local businesses to provide a super fun and entertaining event for all. Live Musical Performances (Diaspoura, Lindsay Holler, Faline, Push the Silver, Shiny Times aka Kim from Tape Waves, Parrish and Josey), Great Food, a Signature Cocktail by Barrel House Spirits and your truly (hint: boozy cha yen), Silent Auction and Craft Beer from The Brew Cellar will make for an amazing way to spend the day. Make plans to join us here as well as the after party at The Sparrow (three words: Magical Kingdom Karaoke).
We’re in the running as Charleston’s Best for the second year in a row!
Like last year, we have some heavy competition and are honored to be voted as one of five area coffee shops with the chops to make resident favorite brews. Charleston’s votes are cast today through February 17th.
If you would like to help support us you can visit BestofCharleston.net to find us under the “Eating and Drinking” section and “Best Coffee House” category to vote.
Thank you for your support regardless of the outcome of this friendly competition. We have great people who believe in us.
This Earth Day you are invited to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Make plans to join Holy City Sinner and The Orange Spot as we co-host the coffee shop’s first backyard even of the season. Details of the inaugural Park Circle Media Mixer can be found at the event’s Facebook page, along with the day’s food vendors and awesome raffle prizes that will take the stage.
